Happy Kobe Bryant Blog Day!

Easter? Eh. Christmas is overrated. Thanksgiving and Halloween? Forget ‘em. Independence Day was never that great, either. And don’t even get me started on Labor Day.

Indeed, all those holidays have now been overshadowed by the first annual Kobe Bryant Blog Day, organized by the fellas at Hardwood Paroxysm. Today, we’re taking a 24-hour break from ripping Kobe, and giving him nothing but praise. My contribution to the festivities: A highlight video from Kobe’s high school days…

Kobe attended Lower Merion High School in the Philadelphia suburb of — you guessed it — Lower Merion. In his senior year, he was voted USA Today and Parade Magazine’s National High School Player of the Year, averaging 30.8 points, 12 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 4.0 steals, 3.8 blocked shots per game that season. He also led his squad to a 31-3 record and a Class AAAA state title in his final season of high school basketball.

Bryant became the leading scorer in the history of Southeastern Pennsylvania high school basketball, passing none other than Wilt Chamberlain on the all-time scoring list (Kobe compiled a staggering 2,883 points throughout his four years at Lower Merion).

So that’s your history lesson for the day…love him or hate him, there’s no denying that Kobe’s one of the greatest basketball talents this country has ever seen — in addition to being a future Hall-of-Famer for his achievements at the pro level, he’ll go down in history as one of the best high school basketball players of all-time.

Kobe is one of the most intriguing stories in the NBA. When it is all said and done, we may all marvel in the fact that we got to see the phenomenom known as KOBE BRYANT.

What I want to know is why March 11? Wasn’t that Isaiah Thomas’s number?

Shouldn’t Kobe Bryant Blog day be March 24?

Then we could have Shaq’s blog day on March 32. ;-)
