Joey Gathright Can Leap Over Tall Buildings

As you may remember, a video of Kansas City outfielder Joey Gathright jumping over cars was posted on YouTube roughly a year ago. The video was filmed in 2002, and at that time, he would only have been about 21-years-old. Well, nearly six years have passed since then, but Gathright certainly hasn’t lost his leaping ability with his older age.

In a spring training game between the Dodgers and Royals, Gathright was brought off the bench to replace Kansas City’s starting center fielder, David DeJesus. Facing Dodgers pitcher Hiroki Kuroda, Gathright knocked a chopper down the first base line that was fielded by Kuroda. The pitcher ended up going directly into Gathright’s path as he tracked down the ball, which led to this highlight reel play:

That’s just some ridiculous athleticism. Gathright barely even make contact with Kuroda when leaping over him, which should give you a decent idea of his freakish jumping ability.
