Marty Brennaman Dislikes Chicago Cubs Fans

I think it’s fairly safe to say that Cincinnati Reds announcer Marty Brennaman harbors an intense dislike for Cubs fans. He absolutely unleashed on the Wrigley faithful when an Adam Dunn home run prompted the fans to throw balls onto the field, calling them the “most obnoxious fans in baseball,” and saying, “This is the kind of thing…that makes you want to see this Chicago Cubs team lose.”

Without question, there are many moronic individuals who attend Cubs games and act like idiots while at the ballpark. But the same is true for the other 29 teams in the Majors, so Brennaman certainly shouldn’t be singling out Cubs fans as he did. It’s simply unprofessional for an announcer to state that he wants to see a team lose because of the conduct of the fans, and while his criticism of the fans who threw balls was justifiable, he took his rant waaaay too far and made too many generalizations about Cubs fans.
