Zaza Pachulia is Somewhat Excited About the Atlanta Hawks

After the Atlanta Hawks completed a stunning 103-100 victory over Boston on Friday and sent their series to a seventh game, MC Pachulia (aka Hawks big man Zaza Pachulia) stepped up to the mic for a postgame interview, disregarded the question he was asked by the interviewer, and babbled some thoughts about the upcoming seventh game. Take a looksie:

“We love you! Whooo!”

If you would have told any NBA fan that, out of the eight opening round playoff series, the Celtics-Hawks matchup would be the only series to go the full seven games, you would have been declared a certified nut. But these Hawks have shown some unexpected gutsiness, and their youth has proven to be their best asset in their home games.

Plenty will point out that the Celtics have been inept on defense in key parts of games three, four, and six, and that Boston has frankly looked old and slow when playing in Atlanta. Still, as much as the Celtics deserve criticism for this debacle of a playoff series, let’s not ignore the fact that Atlanta deserves TREMENDOUS credit for taking this series to seven games.

They’re exponentially better than their 37-45 regular season record would indicate, and even if they lose on Sunday, the Hawks have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.
