Video: Night Two of Brett Favre on Fox News
In case you missed the first part of Brett Favre’s interview with Greta Van Susteren that aired on Monday, click here for the video. Below, we’ve got video from part two of the interview (which was aired last night), along with a few notable quotes from Brett’s conversation with Van Susteren:
The one thing in this, I do feel bad for Aaron a little bit. I think he’ll do a fine job, to be totally honest with you. I do. He has been injured. The two injuries are not his fault. Couldn’t control them.
Uh, I’d hope you feel bad for him. As if the prospect of replacing a legend wasn’t enough for a young quarterback to handle, now Rodgers needs to deal with the uncertainty of the Favre situation as he heads into training camp. That aspect of this circus has kind of gone under the radar, but Rodgers is getting completely screwed over in this.
[Reporting to Packers training camp is] tempting because everyone is saying, ‘Call their bluff,’ or whatever. I think it’s going to be a circus in itself already, whether I go there, whatever…But I don’t want to go back there just to stick it to them.
Yeah, an unhappy Favre reporting to training camp would cause a certifiable three-ring circus — as if he hasn’t already created enough of a mess. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how this plays out; Green Bay’s camp kicks off on July 28th, and a lot can happen before then.
[Being traded] is hard to imagine. But if I’m going to play, I mean obviously I would have to agree to whoever it is. And I’m sure they’re not going to do it with a big rival or a competitor or whatever. But that may be our only option. I don’t know what else to do.
At this point, a trade is starting to seem like the most likely scenario. The bridge between the Packers and Favre is burning pretty damn quickly, and a release is obviously out of the question — logically, that leaves a trade as the most probable outcome. Of course, Favre mentioned during the interview that he might just remain retired, and that’s certainly within the realm of possibility if a resolution cannot be reached between him and the team.
