Recapping the Hawaii Winter Baseball League
Over the years, the Hawaii Winter Baseball League has featured many young players who saw their dreams come true and find their way to the Major League.
This year's HWB featured another group of four teams filled with the future young stars of baseball -- both Major League and Japanese Professional -- and capped off with a showdown between the Waikiki BeachBoys (19-17) and the West Oahu CaneFires (19-14) in the Championship game.
In that game, the BeachBoys beat the CanFires 5-1 behind excellent pitching performances from Mitsuo Yoshikawa (Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters) -- 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 5 K -- and Steven Richard (Seattle Mariners) -- 4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 K. Offensively, the team was led by Buster Posey (San Francisco Giants, pictured, photo by Icon SMI) who went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer in the seventh.
In addition to the Championship game, the league officials and media selected an All-League Team and various awards to recognize the talented young players of this year's edition. Here is a quick rundown of the stars of this year's HWB and "future stars" of professional baseball:

Year-End Pound-For-Pound Top 20 List
Whereas before you could make an argument for Juan Manuel Marquez or Joe Calzaghe to deserve the top pound-for-pound spot, Manny Pacquiao's destruction of Oscar De La Hoya in a weight class well above where he started the year should end that debate. He's the best. Case closed.More of the "Best of MVN"
