Michael De Leon Tells the NBA to Drop Its Love Affair with Michael Jordan
With the NBA touting the 10-year anniversary of Michael Jordan's second retirement from the Chicago Bulls, NBA Outsider's Michael De Leon is fed up.
The NBA blogger jumped on MVN Radio Thursday to bring the league down to earth, pleading for a fresh start in the post-MJ era that puts the spotlight on new stars and let's them grow completely unobstructed by Jordan's shadow. Show host Brandon Rosage counters with criticism that pundits and fans that experienced the Michael Jordan era will never allow modern players to avert the comparisons and, until they leave the industry, things will likely never change.
Among other questions, the discussion ponders what the NBA's best model for commercial success looks like: True parity across the league or star power on big-market teams that are perpetually in the playoffs.
The audio interview serves as a companion to De Leon's Thursday NBA editorial at NBA Outsider.

You have to assume in the playoffs that LeBron is going to score 40 points. And you have to assume that the Cavs won't give up more than 90 points per game. So can you keep the rest of the Cavs players to under 50?More of the "Best of MVN"
