Jason Grey, reporting on ESPN (h/t RAB):
The New York Yankees recently pulled catcher Austin Romine from the Arizona Fall League due to a minor injury. Needing to add another catcher to the Surprise roster, the Yankees had the right of first refusal to send another one. When they declined, the Texas Rangers stepped up and sent Taylor Teagarden to the AFL as a replacement.
Jason Grey is the only person I can find that is reporting this, so I don't have more details on the injury. I think it is safe to assume that the injury is minor. It's standard procedure for a player to be taken out of the AFL with small injuries.
Romine didn't get much of a chance to prove himself, getting only 15 at-bats. He managed six singles, a walk, and four strikeouts in his brief stay in Arizona.
It's definitely disappointing that we won't get to keep track of Romine this winter, but this is the safe measure and makes sense in the long run.
