There but for the grace of Paws go you.
What happens when a Tigers blogger who's used to checking for Tigers news 50 times a day staggers into the offseason, and is STILL checking for Tigers news 50 times a day, except now NOTHING INTERESTING IS GOING ON?
This is what happens.

If you were ever thinking of becoming a baseball blogger, just remember, kids and kittens: this could be you.
I did in fact make that Lions t-shirt. I am planning to wear it to the Thanksgiving Day game.

I know the feeling... and I'm not even a blogger. :)
When not even the Free Press has anything new to read on the Tigers on a daily basis, it is a sad time of the year.
I was mildly surprised to see that the 40-man roster still listed Inge as a catcher, though. Was that just because they don't have a new catcher yet and don't want to have to make a decision about which other infielder to leave unprotected? Please tell me the grand soap opera is over and they're just going to leave Inge at 3rd, now. Just lie to me - I'll believe you. :)

Damn straight, Sam.
I'd like to see the Tigers DO SOMETHING! ANYTHING! Please?

Not even lies: I do think that's just a categorization thing on the roster, and he'll be playing third. They made such a strong statement about that, it would be beyond idiotic to go back on it now.

Suddenly, this baseball blogging thing seems so... trivial!
I love Dombrowski's Bill Cosby sweater. Or is that more of a rugby shirt?

But looking at the big picture, has any team done anything yet, other than the Giants signing Jeremy Affeldt?

Coco Crisp to the Royals. Uh... Dempster re-upped with the Cubs. The Rangers sent Kameron Loe to Japan? :P

Very chucklelicious, Sam. A few observations, if I may:
1. The Derek Jeter and AJ Burnett bits made me laugh out loud. Well played.
2. Also hilarious: "not hot".
3. Towson State is a small college in Maryland. It is most notable for being a college in Towson, MD, a place that does not need to have a college, ever.
I can haz more awesom comix plz??!?!

Towson is a northern suburb of Baltimore, which makes Towson State University Baltimore's answer to, perhaps, Oakland University, except that Towson is in a county called Baltimore County (which is different than Baltimore City -- as Dave Barry would say, you can't make this stuff up), so to name the place after the county would be confusing, to say the least, since there is also such a thing as the University of Baltimore, which is in Baltimore City. The fact that I can devote that many words to the topic speaks to the lack of Tigerrific news. I suppose after the deadline for teams to offer (or not) arbitration to their own free agents (Dec. 1), then we'll actually see some movement.

I missed you!!
My fault, not yours. Maybe Dombrowski's sweaters fault.

There are about a dozen blog posts about James Skelton being left off the 40 man roster. And Ken Rosenthal says the Tigers are going to get Matt Treanor in a block buster three team deal. That's not enough for you?

This is wawesome. I especially love the demented squirrel gnawing on Farnsworth's arm. Amazing.

Tony, my dad got a kick out of the Rotoworld bit too. Go fig.
Jeff, scary. :P
Re: Dombrowski's shirt, let's just say that I had my reasons...
The Skelton thing is indeed a little sketch, but it's still a kind of nonmove unless/until someone else picks him up. Just like the Treanor rumors. We've been talking about the Big Totally Happening Red Sox/Tigers trade for weeks now, and it ain't happened yet. Everything is speculation right now, not actual Tiger-rrific moves. And that sucks. I enjoy a little irresponsible speculation here and there, but at this point in the offseason it's gettin' dangerously close to wanking.
95% of all hunting accidents involve gnawing squirrels. FACT(esque).

Hum, after the last two winters I expected Dombrowski to jump right into action like Super GM.
We wait and we watch... hopefully our Tigers will leave us happy presents under our trees soon.

Can't wait to see your Lion shirt! Are you selling them, too?
Love the comic strips and your demented stylings!

You can't fool me Samara, I know you care deeply for our young prospects, because you have the AFL Tiger blog link on your site! I'm right with you, I'm not sure what's worse-no news, or the laughilicious trade rumors.

Sportz4life, I don't know why I keep watching the Lions games, but I do. It's part pure masochism and part character-building exercise, I reckon.
Paul, to be fair to Dombrowski, the entire offseason market is really slow to develop right now. No one seems to want to jump in there all Super-GM-style. It still makes for boring blogging. :P
Lisa, I'm not selling them at the moment, although who knows. I have Herman Moore, John Jett (don't ask) and Joey Harrington Lions jerseys, and I didn't really want to wear any of those to Ford Field right now... so I whipped up a design that I would feel better about. :)
Jennifer, shhh! Yer wreckin' my cynical cred! :P

I love you(r posts) Samara! I've got the offseason blues too. But with AI as a Piston, the Red Wings looking good but unsure and the Lions being, well, post-Barry Sanders Lions, I need to know what's gonna happen to Nasty Nate and the D-Train. I need my Tigers fix!
Fortunately, I have the Florida Gators to bring light into my life. :D
Then there's Spring Training right around the corner...

h20polopunk, Spring Training is not much of a consolation right now. Curse our twitchy impatience! And curse the Lions for not being more distracting in, uh, a positive sense.
Wyrmer, I will cease the jesting when he gets himself a roster photo. :P
Jules, yeah, I'll post some photos from the Lions game when I get home and can get 'em on my computer. I did get some tolerable shots, despite the intolerable nature of the game itself. I'm still in MI right now though and don't have my laptop with me.
