The World’s Beautiful Game

April Fools’ Day, Soccer-Style

This year, more than ever it seems - soccer bloggers and newswriters engaged in that annual practice of producing fake news for this time-honored tradition.  ESPN contributor Ives Galarcep posted a good one on his Soccer By Ives blog, and although it seemed far too obvious to those in the know on the actual situation, it nonetheless likely fooled some casual observers.  His clever post this morning claimed that Bruce Arena was hired as the new Mexico manager, literally only hours after Hugo Sanchez was dismissed.  The story had a funny photo of a very lonely-looking Arena in a Mexican setting, too.
