The World’s Beautiful Game

David Beckham named to squad v USA

David Beckham has been named to the ENGLAND roster for two upcoming international friendlies, including v USA on May 28.  This match will take place on a Wednesday at Wembley.  There is a good chance that Beckham’s Galaxy teammate Landon Donovan will be on the roster for USA that day.

England will be involved in international friendlies this year, a small consolation for not making the European Championships, as they prepare for 2010 World Cup qualifiers. The lack of EURO 2008 participation next month, however, does free up Beckham more for regular-season and tournament play with his club team.

You may remember that Beckham recently tallied his 100th ENGLAND cap, making him only the fifth in history of that nation to do so.
