Nets Get Zoned Out, Lose 108-88. 9-8
First of all, it's great being here at MVN. Hope that you guys who're reading this (if there are any haha) appreciate what I'm doing. It's really nice to be able to share one's thoughts and opinions to others around the world.
On to the game review..
It was only a matter of time before someone figured out how to stop Devin Harris , and it was the hapless Washington Wizards who decided to blast the Nets with a zone defense after halftime resulting in a 35-12 scoring output that buried the Nets.
It was not as if the zone really prevented Harris from penetrating, he still got inside, but the zone forced him to kick it out to open shooters, who sadly, were all having bad nights. The Nets shot 40% for the night and 30% from beyond the arc, which was not bad at all. However, they just could not get anything to fall in that pivotal 3rd quarter.
As much as the shooting was questionable, it was really the inability to get stops that is the bigger concern, the Nets let Washington get whatever shot they wanted. Butler, Jamison and Stevenson all scored in the 20's and as a team, they shot 54% from beyond the arc.
Maybe it was the jetlag, maybe the Nets were getting too cocky or maybe, it was the no-energy IZOD Center (compared to other NBA arenas) that did this to the Nets. Whatever it was though, I'm sure they'll address it, actually, they already were. During the game, it was reported that Carter vowed to not let it happen again. Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is a leader. Let's hope he sticks to his word.
Stats of the game:

Stats of the game:
- Wizards: 54% from beyond the arc
- CDR: 6 points in 9 minutes
- I don't think we had any problems with energy, they were just taken out of rhythm by the zone
- Obviously,
we weren't consistent, given how the Nets performed against the zone.
What's important here, is how they will adjust to it
- Defensive lapses aside, the bench was actually serviceable for this game, nice to see CDR back though
