Lopez and Carter Lead Nets to OT Win, 103-99. 19-19
For a team that's supposed to have a "glass jaw" last year, the Nets
are simply loving playing in overtime this season, having won 5 of
their 6 overtime games this season. Well.. of course, the mere fact
that this team is very different from last year's team also plays a big
part.
The biggest difference tonight, was Brook Lopez, who finished with a career high 31 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Guess, he really wanted to erase any memory ofKrstic from everyone. He did everything tonight, hitting open jumpers, working the pick and roll to perfection and getting easy put-backs after misses.
It was cl0se throughout most of the game, with both teams unable to hold on to their leads. The Thunder were lead by Durant, who finished with 26 points. He really has a future in this league, he just needs to bulk up.Krstic played a modest game, with 12 points and 4 rebounds
With less than 30 seconds left in the 4th and the score tied, the Nets went low to Lopez, who was unable to convert, but after some physical boxing out from both teams, the ball was eventually tapped to Devin Harris, who swung the ball to Carter for a possibly game winning three pointer. The shot went in, but it did not count. With Harris just about to make the pass to Carter, Coach Frank was seen running towards the referee, screaming at him for a time-out, wish granted, we go into overtime.
I side entirely with Coach Frank on this one, the players were not organized and if the shot missed, a long rebound could easily lead to a Thunder transition basket or it will lead to the Thunder having the opportunity to win the game with the last shot.
In the overtime period though, it was all Nets, with Carter first hitting a three over Durant, Harris scoring on a reverse lay-in and Lopez scoring of a nifty Carter pass. The Thunder never threatened after that.
I was pretty impressed with the Nets' transition game tonight, they were active and ran the floor well, with Harris throwing exceptionally good lob passes to Carter andDooling who finished with authority, thus energizing the crowd and giving the Nets somewhat of a home court advantage.
