Here is a short but interesting piece from the Bill’s Circle teh Wagon site by Danny Goldman

Sunday, but not yet spicey game day!
Ok so its hot out and the humidity is driving me crazy! I have the grill going, burgers n’ dogs at the ready and a nice Wachusett Summer Ale to quench my thirst!
Ah but this is summer time and although we are still a month or so away from pre-season it is always good to get in some tailgating practice. The players have their thing and we the fans have ours!
Now we all have our own specialty when we want to tailgate – some grill (like me Keep It Simple Sir) and others go all out and behold the majestic menu they create!
Oops grill is ready – burger and dogs – yeah on you go!
I pride myself on my spicey hot chicken wings – although its more the hot-sauce I create then the wings themselves. Yes so mouth watering good and so hot it’ll make you cry twice
) The look of pleasure as people wipe away the swean tears and ask for more shows another job well done!
But the spicey hot-sauce is not for everyone, so for those that can’t handle it there is another batch of wings with a more ordinary not-so-hot-sauce. blaaa
So although one might think I have mastered the art of the hot-sauce, you would surprised to know that I haven’t really found the perfect sauce. Over the years I have never made the same hot-sauce twice. I mean I know what I put into it – the same ingredients – it is prepared more to taste, so each week is different.
It is almost like each week for the Pats is different. (flipping the burgers…)
We can look at what Bill has cooked up for us Pats fans the past few years and easily say he is not a simple grill master, but a one of a kind chef using the same ingredients with a different mix each week.
Yes, we watch as Bill creates something unique and see what he has devised for each team the Pats play against. Yet somehow, the opposing team cannot cut the mustard and seem rather ordinary and not as well prepared. I have not seen to many opposing teams stump the Patriots for long. Even ‘old friend’ Bill Parcells couldn’t come up with a decent menu….
So for those of you that tailgate and making an unbelievable taste creation, let’s hear from you and what you are working on these hot summer days, send us a comment and even include your recipe…..
In the mean time I need another Wachusett Summer and my burgers n’ dogs are done….
Go Pats!

OK…..now what?
While waiting to hear the latest news on the Patriots it makes me begin to think about the new versus the old. Safe to say it brought back memories of the good, the bad and the uglyÖ..
But never the less I looked back fondly on players like Stanley Morgan, Mosi Tatupu, Steve Grogan, Sam Cunningham, Raymond Clayborn, Andre Tippet and Vincent Brown. These were all guys I really liked to watch play football.
Anyway since I had time to think – here is what I concluded:
Old Pat Patriot versus the New Elvis – Pat Patriot
Best Super Bowl Win: All of them! Ok I can’t decide they are all so good!
In 2005 teams to beat!
AFC EAST: Patriots ñ Yes!
AFC North: Ravens (this bracket could be close, would like to see the Browns get it though)
AFC South: Colts (light warm games end of season will not help them in the post season! Jaguars have improved and if they can go head to head w the Colts may be here instead!)
AFC West: Toss-up but would have to say Chargers
NFC EAST: Eagles ñ T.O. or no T.O.
NFC North: Lions (Mariucciís Magic?)
NFC South: Falcons (as long as Vick is healthy)
NFC West: Rams (I would like to see Arizona get there act together!)
Sleeper Teams:
Jaguars and Cardinals
I havenít thought of any AFC / NFC winners as yet, but let me know what you think of this so far!
Go PATS!

No News and Good News
There has still been no updates on Richard Seymour’s contract (non)negotiations. So as usual we will have to wait for Belichik and Pioli to break the silence…….tja right
In other news the Patriots released two undrafted rookies, long snapper Travis Conway and offensive tackle Mike Lorenz………
The good news as reported in the Boston Herald (see URL attached http://patriots.bostonherald.com/patriots/view.bg?articleid=89032) is that Rosevelt Colvin is feeling more like his old self and will be 100% this season!
Chris Kennedy of the Republican provides a story on some of last years injured reserve (IR) guys and a detailed highlight of tight-end, Benjamin Watson. (http://www.masslive.com/sports/republican/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/111879090190960.xml&coll=1)
So we are looking forward to everyone showing up healthy and ready for preseason workouts (including Richard Seymour!)
Go Pats!

To Seymour or not
With all the recent news that we could have coming out the mini-camp it is disappointing that the highlight was the no-show of 3 time pro-bowler Richard Seymour.
It is interesting to point out that although Seymour is one of the best in the business, he is still under his rookie contract. Little will change that fact.
Belichick is consistent in how he handles contracts and I do not believe either Belichick or Scott Pioli will stray far from what has made them successful.
It is good to know that Seymour willing to stand up for what he believes in but in the end he under contract for 2 more years! Therefore, Seymour is not expendable (a la Milloy) this year nor will he be cut for cap reasons (a la Law) year. So it is safe to say he will show up at some point.
Let’s just hope he shows up ready to play football and can leave the (un) rest behind him.

Mini-Camp: Finally something to talk about!
Patriots Mini-Camp will take place this weekend.
Finally! Football is here and there is something to talk about!
Unfortunately, the first news out of the Pats Mini-Camp is not good. Despite the fact that this is considered a mandatory practice session for all players, Defensive End Richard Seymour has not shown up for camp and his absence has been termed ‘unexcused’.
It is possible that this absence has been spurred by Richard’s desire for a contract re-negotiation but at this time, that is all just speculation. A 3-Time Pro-Bowler, Seymour has been a force on the Pats D and is expected to continue to improve and be a major factor in the Patriots defense.
Despite Seymour’s contributions, he is still playing under his rookie contract, which may not sit well with him. He’s scheduled to make *only* 2.8 Mil this year but with his peers in the game getting much more lucrative contracts, I can see why he may feel a little underpaid. (I wish I had his problem.)
Hopefully by the time the Mini-Camp ends, we will have a definitive answer as to Seymour’s status.
As expected Tedy Bruschi did not suit up for Mini-Camp but is present. Tedy has yet to announce whether he intends to try and play at some point this season but I would be very surprised if he does not sit it out this year. According to ESPN, Tedy is cleared to work out, but not to play or practice football at this time.
Mini-Camp lasts for 3 days. There are a lot of changes for this years team, from the coaches down to the players. There have been a lot of high profile exits, most notably Romeo Crennel and Charlie Wies. Ty Law is gone. Joe Andruzzi is gone.
It will be very interesting to see how things shake out for The Pats during this Mini-camp with Eric Mangini taking over as Defensive Coordinator and Bill Belichick now overseeing the Offense. Over the past few seasons, players have come and gone as always, but the Coaching Staff has remained consistent. This is the first time in many years that there has been a major change to the Coaching Staff. This is a change that The Pats have been preparing for all throughout the off-season. Now it is time to put those off-season plans into action. Hopefully we will not see much of a drop off.
I am also excited to see how the new Free Agents and Rookie players integrate themselves into The Patriots lineup. I am looking forward to seeing what Logan Mankins can do, as well as their FA pickups like Duane Starks.
Plus, don’t forget the players that got hurt early in the season last year. These players will be back and looking to make an impact; players like Tight End Ben Watson for starters.
Even though this is only a 3 day Mini-Camp, it’s exciting to have Football getting back into gear. Hard to believe it but Training Camp is only about a month away.
I am looking forward to Football but I don’t want it to get here too quick. Let me have some summertime weather first. The Fall weather can hold off for a little while as far as I’m concerned. In the meantime…
In Belichick We Trust
GO PATS

First Steps
Hello Patriot Fans!
I would like ot extend my personal thanks to my good friend Ernie for letting me join him in contributing to the Patriot Act!
I have been a Patriots fan since about 1976. Although my parents are from New England, we lived in various parts of the US while I was growing up before returning to area.
When I first discovered that football was not a backyard sport, but actually something you could watch on TV was during the heyday of the Miami Dolphins. Living in Virginia at the time I was sandwiched in between Dolphins and Redskins fans….. lets just say the old Red, White and Blue of Pat Patriot stood out amongst the crowd.
As with most of you, through the years I have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly. So it is with sweet satisfaction that I can say World Champion New Enlgand Patriots! Even more so since we have been able to say it more then once in recent years!
Anyway, if you are like me this is the time of year you have been searching high and low for any decent info regarding the Patriots. Reading print news, watching ESPN, hitting the internet…..we need this info! We want more then the dismissal of QB Redman.
Although a quality QB, Redman can not fit in when we have the return of local hero Doug Flutie. We welcome Doug back and wish him great success training the up-and-comers of the Patriot QB squad, but hope to never see him take the field once the real season begins. Sorry Doug, but Tom is our Boy!
Hopefully we will soon hear some good news coming out of the front office regarding some key pick-ups in free agencyt, althoughthis year does not look so good.
Even our good friend Ty Law is still looking and he should be getting concerned…after all he does need to put food on the table…maybe enough to feed a Lion?
