More Opportunities for Veteran Free Agents
Normally this time of year is slow with new for any NFL team and we search for any piece of info we can find. As work piles up and the need for vacation becomes more appealing, the opportunities to find any thing interesting is narrowed.
Today being such a day, I found an interesting article by Len Pasquale over at ESPN.com as he takes a look at tomorrowís June 1st date as an opportunity to dump ëoverpriced veteran players “Nothing SpecialÖ”
The article provides an example one teamís trash is anotherís treasure when New England ësnapped upí Rodney Harrison in 2003.
Former Patriots players Len envisions to be on the block ñ WR David Patten of the Redskins and DE Bobby Hamilton with Oakland. Both have not been as productive since leaving the Patriots, however, they are veterans of the Patriots system and can provide leadership in the locker room and on the field.
You never know Roman Phifer is also still available.

I Wish Peter Wouldn’t Think So Much
In his “Monday Morning Quarterback” column written on, well, Monday, Peter King made his official* Super Bowl XLI prediction (*he’s already said he might change the picks after this summer).
“The envelope, please. The combatants in Super Bowl XLI, on Feb. 4, 2007, at Dolphins Stadium?
The New England Patriots vs. the Dallas Cowboys. You heard it here first.”

He’s Friend’s With Tom and Not With Me?

Goldensports.net
Probably the only good thing about my new “job” is that I don’t actually do anything, so about 90% of my day is spent reading different articles and blogs online, most notably, Deadspin (I’m the guy who sits in front of the computer with two windows open: one for GMail, the other for Deadspin. God forbid I don’t read one of their stories within 17 second of it being posted).
During one of my World Wide Web adventures, I stumbled across Laurence Maroney’s MySpace page (from this day forth, I will only refer to him as “Deuce Deuce”).
At first, he seemed like a great guy. He’s an Aquarius, wants kids “someday,” and even has the standard “shirtless in front of a mirror cell-phone picture” picture. Not being one for words, he manages to describe himself in a just a few lines:

Flutie makes it Official
Doug Flutie announced today that yes indeed he is retired.
Playing spring softball with his brothers is something he will be doing as he finishes his negotiations with ABC/ESPN to be a broadcaster for their Saturday College program.
The press conference started off with kind words from owner Bob Kraft and Bill Belichick reflecting on Dougís career in football and his success in college, NFL and CFL.
Obviously as a Patriot the biggest play when Doug Flutie comes to mind will be the ëDrop Goalí.
The Patriots website have a bio on Dougís career 2 Doug Flutie QB
Doug, best wishes in you and your family.
