Patriots Maroney has offseason surgery

It appears running back Laurence Maroney, New England’s 2006 first round draft pick, has had another injury which required offseason surgery to †repair.
According to†John Tomase, of the Boston Herald, league sources are reporting Maroney suffered ‘fairly significant damage’†to his shoulder.†
Although the injury was not specified, Maroney has been seen wearing a sling.
Is this the reason Maroney was not able to perform well during the playoffs….
This may impact the Patriots draft choices in terms of how significant the injury is and how confident the team is Maroney will be ready to practice during the offseaon and play at the start of the season.
