Patriots linebackers older – even with Junior(s)

Rumors making the rounds have Junior Seau will be signed by the New England Patriots after taking a mandatory physical.
This has been first reported by the San Diego Union Tribune and which lead Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe, ESPN.comand now MVN to spread the word.
I agree Junior, if healthy, will be welcomed back into the Patriots rotation.† Although Junior was expected to only rotate in and out last season, he played younger then he has in years.
Many in Patriot Nation are still wondering about the inside linebacker position and although this move helps, it by no means reduces the concern we have on what will become of the middle of our defensive unit.
Although Tedy Bruschi is the project kind of guy Belichick would love to have every year and we†already have young talent on the team – Corey Mays is by no means the future of the franchise.† I would be mightily surprised if any rookies or undrafted free agents are also the next best thing.
With all the NFL teams having converted to the 3-4 defenses the past few years and VERY little talent coming out of college having the skillset, you will see the Patriots do what they have been doing since Belichick has arrived.† Namely picking up talented linebackers via free agency.† A few no frills kind of guys were Mike Vrabel, Bryan Cox, and Roman Phifer.
Roosevelt Colvin was a big time acquisition coming from the Bears and AD Thomas is now with us from the Ravens.† Neither one broke the bank nor were they created by Belichick.†
So although we may frown upon the situation as it is now.† That does not mean it will be that way by training camp or before the season begins.† Enjoy the Grid Iron Grillers – summah hasn’t even stahted yet!
