According to the Boston Globe’s Football Notes section, New England Patriots defensive lineman Ty Warren is searching for a new agent.
The 6 foot 5 inch, 300 pound,†Warren was a first round draft pick for New England in 2003.† The 13th overall pick is still playing under his rookie contract and expected salary of $875,000 and $1.5 million for 2007 and 2008 respectively.
Expectations†are†under the current contract Warren could theoretically earn and additional $3.7 and $5.6 million through individual and team performance in 2007 and 2008.
Warren†did well in the 2006 seasonwith a career-high 117 tackles (66 solo) finishing second overall for the Patriots.† Warren also tied for second on the team with 7.5 sacks.
2006 was a great year for Warren and he should have gone to the Pro-Bowl.† Warren outplayed his teammate and Pro-Bowler Richard Seymour.
Although Warren†has two-years left on his contract, obviously he has learned a thing or two over the past few years watching Seymour, Deion Branch and now Asante Samuel negotiate with the Patriots.
Warren is a Pro-Bowl caliber guy and with little competition nipping at his heels camp and on the roster for 2007, it would be fair to say the Patriots would be smart coming to terms sooner rather then later†if Bill & Co. are looking to keep him.
Is it me or are the New England Patriots now paying for their successes of winning 3 of the last 6 Super Bowls?
Well with Ty still on the books through 2008, we should still be able to win two more.
IN BILL WE TRUST!
