According to the Boston Globe, the Patriots will not pick up WR Kelley Washington’s $4 million option, thereby making Washington a free agent. However, the Pats are interested in Washington returning to the team with a restructured contract. Washington never caught a pass and played on only a few offensive snaps, but made some stand-out special teams plays. I’m sure, depending on who else returns (or doesn’t return), Kelley Washington could see his offensive playing time increase should he choose to stay in New England.

[...] SPORTSbyBROOKS wrote an interesting post today on Pats passing on WashingtonHere’s a quick excerptWelcome to the NFL offseason! [...]
I agree with you about Zach Thomas. However, the rest of America seems to think he’s destined to be a Patriot…
The only defensive player I could see coming here from Miami would be DT Kieth Traylor, and only at the right price. Traylor and Wilfork made a fantastic DT combination/rotation in 2004.
Of course, Jason Taylor would also be welcome as an OLB, but I don’t see Parcells cutting him.
Traylor would not be about money… he was cut. it would be about age as he was thinking of retiring before last season.
He would be a cheap veteran back-up so maybe he would entertain the idea to return to NE, but I figure him to retire or go to the JEST.
