Patriots and Moss close to a deal

ESPN.com’a Chris Mortensen is reporting the New England Patriots and receiver Randy Moss are closing in on a 3 year, $27 deal. Boston.com’s Mike Reiss is reporting the deal is imminent.
After much speculation, signing Moss will close out one area Patriot Nation wanted closed on March 1st.
As far as other roster interests, Cornerback Jason Webster is suppose to visit the Patriots and there may be a contract deal for former Bill’s special teamer Sam Aiken.
In other news, after LB Calvin Pace met with the Jets he returned to his home to think it over between the Jets and the Dolphins. The Patriots will lose out on this one, but are smart to stay away as there is an expectation of the Dolphins and Jets offering huge contracts.

And Pace is a Jet, by the looks of it. And a very expensive Jet at that – looks like New York will be giving rather a lot of your American dollars to the youngster. But not as many as Pittsburgh look to be lavishing on Roethlisberger.

  3. Jamie says:

You got it Andrew. Pace’s deal averages to $7 mill/year. Now, contracts don’t necessarily work that way, but even still, that’s overpaying for Pace. I wanted him in a Patriot uniform, but not at that price. Moss’s deal is being reported as 3 years for $27 mill. Averages to $9 mill/year, only 2 more than what Pace signed but a substancially bigger impact player and one that we know can deliver.
