Pats bring in Jordan

One day after being released by the Raiders, Mike Reiss from the Boston Globe is reporting that the Patriots are hosting RB LaMont Jordan for a free agent visit. JOrdan played 4 seasons with the Jets and spent the last 3 in Oakland, where he was a starter. In 2005, his first as a starter, he ran for 1,025 yards and scored 9 rushing touchdowns. Since then, injuries and the improved play of Justin Fargas have slowed down LaMont, leading to his release.
With six running backs already on the roster, I would suspect that Jordan was brought in on just an evaluation basis just in case the injury bug hits the position in camp or during the season. Of course, there is always the possibility that the Pats are actively trying to sign him now to improve the depth at the position. We’ll have to wait and see if he shows up to the afternoon session of camp today.
***UPDATE*** The Patriots have officially signed RB LaMont Jordan. You can view the pree release here.
Quick Note: DE Richard Seymour was back at practice this morning. It appears as though he is being limited in camp to keep him fresh throughout the season, much like how Brady is being handled. He did not appear to have any signs of an injury at practice.
More to come on today’s training camp sessions later tonight…
