The Pats received a quick personnel boost today when WR WesWelker and CB Ellis Hobbs were removed from the PUP list and returned to practice. As Brent mentioned earlier, Welker’s presence on the field is key to the offense being successful, and Pats fans can let out a sigh of relief with his return. Apparently, Welker had a groin injury that kept him out of mini-camp and the first week of training camp. Hobbs also had a groin injury and a torn labrum, injuries that he played with towards the end of last season. Despite fans dumping on Hobbs much of last season, his toughness cannot be disputed, and I’m sure these injuries had some affect on his play.
While Wes seems to be back at 100%, Hobbs is taking things slow as he works his way back into football shape. He practiced with the reserves and was visibly out of breath at times. While Welker is 100%, he clearly showed signs of not practicing, as he had a few uncharacteristic drops. To his credit, he stayed approximately 30 minutes after practice taking balls from the JUGS machine to get back in the swing of things.

Jamie: “So Wes Welker is missing in action and the Patriots are a Moss injury away of having Chad Jackson, Jabar Gaffney, Kelley Washington and Ray Ventrone as their possible starting receivers
