With Randy Moss’ recent absent from training camp, the observations of most attending the training camp seemed to be the wide receivers seemed to be average. Moss is back in training camp and performing well, but where is Wes Welker?
Welker has not attended mini camp nor has he participated in training camp. Word has it Welker had minor surgery in the offseason, but in true Patriots fashion – I cannot find any information to substantiate that rumor.
In 2007, Moss and Welker provided the dynamite affect as the Patriots offense exploded into a pass happy scoring machine. Moss had 98 catches for 1,493 yards and scored 23 touchdowns, while Wes Welker had 112 catches for 1,175 yards and scored 8 touchdowns.
In 2006, Reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney were a not the best options to have and Troy Brown also did not perform well. Although the Patriots did make it to the AFC Championship that year, the wide receivers were less then stellar in that game and showed they were not the caliber needed to win a Super Bowl.
So Wes Welker is missing in action and the Patriots are a Moss injury away of having Chad Jackson, Jabar Gaffney, Kelley Washington and Ray Ventrone as their possible starting receivers…. time to worry?
The team has been practicing on the short game from various receiver positions, tight ends and running backs. The team has emphasized the run more with 6 running backs in training camp.
With the likes of the Eagles, Ravens and Giants putting pressure on Brady in 2007, other teams will do the same in 2008. Maybe these changes have less to do with Moss and Welker and more to do with game planning for opposing defenses? We shall see.
I do not expect Moss, Welker or Tom Brady to have the same success as in 2007 statistically. But I definitely see the team building a way to win another ring. I just hope the players can be healthy and play their best football.
IN BILL WE TRUST!!

Brent: So fhacking sad re “IN BILL WE TRUST!!” Do you honestly place your “trust” in a piece of shit who has no respect for the integrity of the game? Ahhhhh whhhiccked hhaard.
“I do not expect Moss, Welker or Tom Brady to have the same success as in 2007 statistically. But I definitely see the team building a way to win another ring. I just hope the players can be healthy and play their best football.” Actually, I hope for the exact opposite Brent. The pats are criminals that deserve many many seasons of fhacking misery and disappointment. Let’s hope karma exists.
TP – If you believe in karma – then you would not write the crap you do.
Otherwise – the Pats lost the Super Bowl is that enough karma for you?
Lets cool down now Wes is fine he is back in camp and will have a similar season as last year. Dont Doubt me he is a small recvier for those long 2nd and short 3rds and the short 3rds are new englands most commen down and brady is that type of quaterback that is Hike bang the pass is off first down thats what makes wes and brady so effictive
Brent: They still need to hand over their “rings” to the true champions: Steelers, Colts, Rams, Eagles and Panthers. Only then will justice be properly rectified via karma.
Well considering the Patriots only have three rings – I doubt they will be able to give them to 5 teams.
Steelers and Colts have won their own Super Bowls after beating the Pats.
The greatest show on turf was a dud.
The Eagles lost the game themselves when McNabb choked on his own vomit on the field and mis-managed the clock.
The Panthers were behind and had a good chance to win the game.
Brent: I say give the 2001 and 2004 titles to either the Steelers/Rams or Panthers. The other should go to the Colts or Eagles. Flip a coin if need be, just don’t let the damn cheaters have them (pats, of course).
