Offensive line turns a "Light" on

After being MIA since the first practice of training camp, left tackle Matt Light returned to practice today. Light’s return is a big positive for a line that has been shaky to say the least without it’s starting right guard Stephen Neal and starting left tackle. Neal remains on the PUP list. Nothing was ever mentioned about why Light was out, but the Patriots didn’t have to say anything. Injuries do not have to reported until the start of the regular season. I highly doubt that Light will play in Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Giants, but he will most likely be ready for the start of the regular season. While Light does have his detractors, what can’t be denied is that he is a two-time Pro Bowler and the offensive line is much better when he’s there protecting Brady’s blindside. I think Pats fans got a “don’t know what ya got ’til it’s gone” scenario while Light was out.
On a side note, Wes Welker was absent from practice but seen in the locker room heading into the weight room. That should be viewed as a positive that the rib injury suffered Friday night wasn’t anything serious.
Go Pats!
