Patriot Nation ready for Football
As we are closing our the ‘dog days’ of the NFL and leave behind the dead zone of information, Patriot Nation may officially prepare for the 2009 season.
Amid the signings of rookie contracts and the return of quarterback Tom Brady, there is an underlying hum of excitement and expectation of success which makes one wonder if the 2008 season really happened.

Football returns to New England Thursday
This Thursday (7/30), the NFL returns to New England as training camp opens to the public. Today, all of the rookies who have signed a deal with the team reported, and the veterans report on Wednesday. The Boston Globe’s Christopher Gaspar reported that the Pats’ first draft choice, safety Patrick Chung (34th overall), reported today, indicating that he has signed a deal with the team. Only LB Tyrone McKenzie, who was lost for the season during rookie mini-camps, and long snapper Jake Ingram remain unsigned.
Here are my Top 5 story lines heading into training camp:

McGinest mentions possible Patriot return
Back in April, former Patriot OLB Willie McGinest answered questions on NFL.com from fans and mentioned that he would like to return to the Patriots if possible. Just a few months later in a Q & A session with Sporting News’ Albert Breer, #55 again mentioned returning to New England. He is currently training like he is going to play one more season and his preference is to play for a 3-4 defensive team. When questioned further about returning to the Pats, McGinest had this to say:
