Tampa Bay Rays Blogosphere: A List Of Rays Blogs

by RZ on July 6, 2009

I had a guide to the Tampa Bay Rays blogosphere almost three months ago. Since then, there has been about every one and their uncle making their own. Today I will just provide you a list of all the blogs I could find and a quick sentence for some of them (These are broadly ranked):

Key: Italics are the blogs own words. *New* means a new blog since I made the last guide.

DRaysBay- One of the top baseball blogs out there. Founded in 2005. DRaysBay is home to “progressive statistical analysis and reasoned argument.”

Rays Index- Another highly recognized blog, plus they provide their own unique spin on the Rays. Our goal is to provide breaking news and
analysis on a daily basis, as well as critique the media coverage of
the Tampa Bay Rays.

Rays Report- The TBO blog of the Rays covered by Marc Lancaster and his awesome twitter.

Rays Prospects- One of the underrated blogs, they have detailed coverage of every Rays minor league team as well as prospect analysis.

The Heater- The Saint Petersburg Times own Marc Topkin and co. blog the news.

Rays Revolutionary- Twitter page is frequently updated.

Biscuit Crumbs- Stacy Long’s Montgomery Biscuits blog. Information on the Montgomery Biscuits, the Tampa Bay Rays and whatever
else interests the (warped) mind of Advertiser sports writer A. Stacy
Long

Bugs and Cranks- David Chalk also works on a top baseball site.

More blogs, some that you probably never heard of!

Watching Durham Bulls Baseball- Neat blog of the Durham Bulls

Rays The Stakes
-

Dock of the Rays

Tampa Bay Sports Blog- General Tampa Bay sports blog.

Rays All Day- Were formerly Rise of the Rays.

Trop Talk-

Her Rays- Feminine view of the Rays.

Rays BB- The original RaysBaseball.com and the first Rays forum.

Rays of Light- Not manned much anymore.  :(

Tampa Bay Rays Examiner

Joe Maddon Sucks
*New*

Trop It Like It’s Hot- *New*

Indy Week Blogs-

Infrequently updated
:
9equals8
Tampa Bay Rays Fan
The Devil Slips
Rays’s Insider Blog- Inappropriately titled. *New*

MLBlogs
Rays Renegade
Rays Plays- The official Raysbaseball.com beat writer.
Rising fom the Ashes
More Cowbell
The Water Cooler

I may be missing some really small blog, but all the real ones are mentioned. Amazing how even last season, there was like only five blogs that were actually updated, now there almost 20 of them. Please email me if I missed yours at theraysparty@gmail.com.

And of course, I have to link mine.

I don’t want to turn this into a “which one is better” argument because I like both. But just curious why you say DRaysBay is “one of top baseball sites” but not RaysIndex? According to Alexa RaysIndex has more traffic. Just curious what makes one ranking so much better than the others. Again, I like both sites and this one are the three I check everyday.

“Twitter page updated frequently”… love it! If you want to get in on the twitter thing… just go to http://www.twitter.com/m_weber and follow along. Lively discussion during the games and even on off days.

I was referring to that website that I linked ranking 10+ of their top blogs. Rays Index is a very popular and as I called it “highly recognized”. Cork’s work has appeared a good numbers of times on ESPN, SI, Deadspin, and several other big name blogs and media outlets. I agree that they are the best two of the Rays blogs hands down.
I didn’t check Alexa rankings. I didn’t really ranked them by top ten of anything, just broadly have my choices for the best on the first page, and the newer ones or fan blogs on the second page. Had to put one ahead of the other by law of physics so Draysbay just happened to be first.
No point in ranking the Rays blogs into individual rank (like #1-10).
