Project Overview
What might sound like a simple job—replacing some old transmission poles on Staten Island for Con Edison—was complicated by the fact that the poles were located in an environmentally sensitive area.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation required the work to be performed without heavy equipment and with minimal disturbance of the surrounding area, which meant we had to come up with a creative way to move the new poles in and the old poles out that wouldn’t disrupt the environment.
Our solution was to use a construction helicopter to bring in the new poles and carry out the old without disturbing the sensitive ecosystem in which we were working.
